The check-out/check-in is handled implicitly and automatically by the system, and depends on the type of authoring tool that you use on the client side. For example, with Microsoft Office, it will create a new version of the file only when you close the editing session, regardless of how many times you hit the Save button during the editing. On the other hand, with OpenOffice, everytime you hit Save button, the system will create a new version of the file in Teaming.

I suspected that the user could make download of file (check-out), save the file in hdd, edits it off-line and, after, upload a new version (check-in).

While the user was changing the file in his cpu, the other users would know that this file is blocked for edition.

The deal is:

"When you make check-out of an archive of a webdav, you guarantee that other people cannot make alterations in the archive while you edit it. While check-out of the archive is fact, you it can edit the archive, close it, open it again and even though to work with the archive in its hard disk. Other users cannot modify the archive or see the alterations until you make check-in of the archive."

Is it possible to do?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for clarifying the question.

What you're saying is all possible. Click on the file entry (or any other entry type), then click Reserve button on the tool bar for the entry. This will reserve the entire entry exclusively for you, and no one else will be able to modify the entry until you un-reserve the entry by clicking Unreserve button. Then, you can edit the file using Edit button, or by downloading/modifying/uploading the changes as you described.

You said: 'and no one else will be able to modify the entry until you un-reserve'

In case an user forgets to check an entry back in, the Workspace Manager and the Admin can un-reserve in case of emergency.
