Hi,

I received a brand new license file from Novell (after many different bad license files). I tried to :
- put it in config/apache-tomcat-6.0.18/webapps/ssf/WEB-INF/license (where the actual license.xml file resides) and then select reload from the admin license page
- start the installer with this license (which is recongnized and accepted) and select 3 to reconfigure teaming...

No way. The old license remains active and no way to let teaming 2 accept the new one. Do i miss something ?

- i verified the catalina.out (it says only Loading License, but no errors) ?
- does the license file need to have a precise name, owner or posix permissions ?
- i verified that no <CR><LF> is in the file.

I have no more idea. Please help me ... Thx

There are a number of reasons why a license might not work. The most probable problem is if you are using a trial license, you cannot use another trial license to replace or extend your license unless the new trial period is longer than when you initially installed Teaming. So, if you installed Teaming 3 months ago, you would need a 6 month license to get another 3 months.

Thx.

In my case, I am using regular license coming from Novell, as we are partner ... so the problem is not the trial version ...

Also, I do not understand the following:

- when i run the installer, the license is correctly recognized

- after the reconfiguration, i can see that the license file has been put in the correct directory (../WEB-INF/ .../license/license.xml)

and so, even with this correct steps, the system still see the old license. It means that it stores the license somewhere (database?) and it is not able to update it ... of course pressing the button, "Reload License File", does not change anything and the log doesn't show any error ...

where this license info are stored ?

thx

You can look at the license.xml file using Wordpad (or whatever). See if there is anything odd in it (such as the expiration date being passed).

If you want, you could email me the license file (I don't really want you to post it in the forum) and I can take a look at it. My email address is in my profile.

After you replace the licence.xml in the WEB-INF file, you should be able to start teaming and reload the license without having to run the installer in reconfigure mode

As an alternative, if you want to use the installer in reconfigure mode, make sure the new license is in the same folder as the installer with the name license-key.xml, the installer will copy this file and replace the license.xml file in the WEB-INF folder

If you replace the license.xml in the WEB-INF folder only and run the installer in reconfigure mode it will take the license file it has in the installer folder (I assme the old one) and replace the new license in the WEB-INF folder, which might explain what you are seeing

Yes you are right, we need to be careful. But in this case, that is not the problem. I put the file in place OR i used it with the installer. Anyhow, when it starts, the installer shows you the license it recognizes, to ask to to validate it ... and it show me the correct one (the new one). Thanks for your help

Ok forget it ...
Shame on me...
I am playing with more than one Teaming directory structure and of course, i've used the wrong one..
License worked but putting it in the correct directory, then reload from Management interface.
Sorry for your time
